 What is Vocational Education?

Vocational institutions such as Australian Institute of Commerce and Language award Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma qualifications. Tertiary institutions (universities) award Degrees and Masters the next level up from vocational.

Australia's Vocational Education and Training system provides individuals with the skills required in a modern and changing economy. Vocational education delivers training that is both practical and career oriented. All colleges that provide vocational education are subject to government monitoring to ensure high standards. Our vocational courses are designed to provide students with the competencies that employers have identified as critical to their needs. These standards form the basis of assessment and students graduate as soon as they demonstrate their achievement.

Graduates are awarded with a qualification under Australia's unified Australian Qualifications Framework. These qualifications are recognised and valued by employers. They also provide the foundation for progressing into higher level courses including entry into universities.
